A CT scan uses X-rays to make detailed pictures inside your body. Doctors use these pictures to look for the cause of symptoms, check an injury or see how a condition has changed. Some scans use contrast medium (a special dye that makes certain structures easier to see).
If you have a referral letter, tell our team the scan name on it. We can help you confirm the available service and appointment arrangements.
Ask for the preparation instructions for your specific scan, together with the total fee and what to bring.
Your report is ready the same day. Review the findings and next steps with your referring doctor.
With contrast means a scan uses contrast medium (a special dye). Without contrast means this dye is not used. Your doctor will advise which examination is appropriate.

Bring your referral letter if you have one, along with earlier scan reports or images. Tell the team about possible pregnancy, kidney problems, allergies, previous contrast reactions and your medicines. Ask whether you need to avoid food or drinks before your scan. Do not stop or change medicines unless your doctor tells you to.
You lie on a moving table during the scan and may need to hold your breath briefly. If dye is needed, the team will explain how it is given and check for any risks beforehand.
Not every CT scan needs dye. It depends on what your doctor needs to check. Tell the team if you have had a reaction to scan dye before or have kidney problems.
Walk-ins welcome, no referral needed. Contact the team to confirm suitability, preparation and availability. Bring any existing referral or previous relevant results.
Yes. CT uses X-rays. Your doctor weighs the benefit of the scan against its risks before recommending it. Having a scan is not automatically the right choice for every symptom.
