Breast ultrasound uses sound waves to make pictures inside the breast. It can help check a lump and show whether it contains fluid or is solid. It does not use X-rays.

Ultrasound does not replace a mammogram when one is recommended, and a reassuring scan does not rule out every breast cancer.

When to ask about it

A doctor may suggest ultrasound to check a breast change or look more closely at something found in another test. Your age, symptoms, health history and earlier scans help guide that decision.

A symptom should not wait

If you notice a new lump or another breast change, arrange a clinical assessment. Do not wait for a friend to join a promotion before seeking advice.

Before your visit

Bring previous breast images and reports if available. Tell the team about symptoms, pregnancy, breastfeeding, implants or previous procedures. Ask whether other planned tests require separate preparation.

During the ultrasound

You may change into a gown. The team puts gel on your skin and moves a transducer (small handheld scanner) over the breast. Pressure can feel uncomfortable over a tender area. Let the team know if you need a pause.

After your scan

Your report is ready the same day, with an explanation of the findings and next steps. You may need another scan or a biopsy (taking a small tissue sample for testing). Ultrasound cannot answer every question.

Ultrasound or mammogram?

They provide different information and are sometimes used together. Ultrasound uses sound waves; a mammogram uses X-rays. Your doctor will advise which test you need. IIHC does not offer mammography on site; ask the team about the next step if it is recommended.

Questions before booking

Can an ultrasound confirm that I do not have cancer?

No. Persistent symptoms need clinical follow-up even after a reassuring scan.

Can I use ultrasound instead of a recommended mammogram?

Ask your doctor before changing a recommended test. An ultrasound cannot always provide the same information as a mammogram.

Do I need to fast for breast ultrasound?

It generally needs little preparation. Confirm IIHC’s instructions, especially if your visit includes other tests.

Does it involve radiation or an injection?

A standard breast ultrasound uses sound waves. It does not use X-rays or usually need a dye injection.

Can I come during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Tell the team when booking. Your clinician will assess the symptom and appropriate examination.

Is RM250 the price per person?

No. The stated Infinitely Pink scan offer is RM250 total for two people. Registration and consultation fees are additional.

Can I walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome, subject to clinical assessment and availability. Contact us before travelling to confirm arrangements.

How long is the appointment and when do I get the report?

The scan takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Reports are ready the same day, with an explanation of the findings and next steps. Allow additional time for registration and clinical assessment.
